Description :
The lake reclamation of the nineteenth century stands on whole in bad repute in relevant literature. The lake reclamation (1797-1812) of Nieuwkoop doesn't fit into this existing negative image. Except for some short periods with draining problems the polder turned out to be a satisfactory agricultural area. Here the government played a significant role.
