Metros and the soviet city: an appraisal

Auteur :
BLAIR, P.

Description :
The Soviet Union has adopted a policy of providing subway (metro) systems in all cities of one million population or more as well as in some of the smaller capitals of union republics. Despite the high cost of building this type of urban transport, the policy appears to be dictated by a combination of prestige considerations, as in the case of the smaller republic capitals, and consideration of comfort and efficiency, as in the larger cities.
