Out of the possible models of a mantle-related granite genesis in the Erzgebirge Mts. a diapirism model is favoured according to which with the beginning of Variscan orogenesis a mantle diapir became active in Europe. From the mantle uparching, melts of probably intermediate composition were let off into the crust, where the crust segment of the Erzgebierge-Fichtelgebirge anticlinale has been concerned very much. This model conception is strongly confirmed by several geophysical, geologic and petrologic findings. (HL).
