Description :
Old coastal traces 0,5-1,3 in higher than present sea level (coastal platforms formed by bio-erosion, calcareous algae constructions) are dated using C 14 method. The algae lived between 2690-1545 years B.P. A neotectonic event which happened at about 1550 years B.P. caused an upheaval of these former platforms about 6,5-1,2 m. This event coincides with the seismo-tectonic upheaval of the coastlines of the southern Aegean islands.
