Description :
Sea level is thought to have reached a maximum of about 2-2,5 m. over m.s.l. approximately 6 000 years B.P. at Mar Chiquita lagoon. At Caleta Valdès, several pebbly beach ridge systems are developed. Radiocarbon ages from shells included in low energy deposits ranged between 41 000 4 000 and 34 400 1 700 years B.P. The relative movements of sea-level are attributed mainly to glaci-eustatic factors in Mar Chiquita while the higher stand of the holocene system in Caleta Valdès may be explained in the light of tectonic movements.
