Description :
The study of total granulometry (2 mm-0,2 m) for loess requires the use of two different methods. The first, sieving, is used for the coarse fraction (2 mm-100 02 50 m). For the finer fraction the particles are either counted according to size (Coulter counter) or a size distribution is determined using the Stokes fonction (Sedigraph 5000 E). The junction between the coarse and fine methods, in one case, and the agreement between the two methods for determining the fine fraction, in the second case, have been studied and reasons for differences suggested.
