Reef growth and sea-level change: The environmental signature in Proceedings. Volume 3. Symposia and seminars.

MONTAGGIONI, L.

Description :
Great contrast occurs between the sea-level signatures of the Caribbean (continuous Holocene rise) and the southern Pacific (almost a standstill for some 6000 years). In both regions, however, there may be responses in terms of reef growth and ultimately reef structure, independent of the direction and rate of sea-level change, with reefs responding to the Holocene transgression by keeping-up, while other reefs catch-up or give-up. The use of sea level marks in the interpretation of ancient reefs varies with and depends on the preservation of the most typical figure prints. (P.A. Pirazzoli).
