Paraglacial conditions of instability and mass movement. A discussion
Auteur :JOHNSON, P. G.
Description :
In the southwest Yukon the landscape is dominated by mass movement forms, many of which developed rapidly. The importance of an understanding of the occurence of instability, trigger mechanisms and mass movement mechanisms for landscape interpretation is stressed. Engineering studies, which have long recognized the importance of catastrophic rock slides and avalanches, serve as models for the development of hypothesis that instability and mass movement characterized the paraglacial environment.
