Description :
The superiority of the precipitation hour over the precipitation day as a basis for analysing distribution patterns is argued with the support of a study of the mean precipitation hours of 352 stations over China in the period 1957-1959. Spatial patterns of m.p.h. are identified according to annual ranges, seasonal variation, relationship with elevation, gradient and direction of slopes. Rain and dry season patterns over the country are also demarcated by m.p.h. values. (TNC).
