Climatic values of sea-level pressure may define a field similar to typical situations. This is especially the case when the situations are predominantly stationary. Through a synthesis of the pressure field and the resulting wind a climatic pattern is obtained which has the basic characteristics of a mesosynoptic situation over the Balcan peninsula. (HL).
