Beyond geography and literature

Auteur :
SILK, J.

Description :
Current work on Geography and Literature is almost entirely characterised by an experiential approach in which theoretical suppositions are implicit and in which'literary'is very narrowly defined. Three major theoretical approaches to the study of literature are considered, and it is argued that elements of all three are required in a Marxist analysis which has the goal of exposing and combating bourgeois ideology. In conclusion, examples are given of areas of geographic research where such intervention might prove effective.
