The development of the Yishuv Kehillati in Judea and Samaria: process and settlement form

Auteur :
NEWMAN, D.

Description :
This paper analyses the development of Jewish settlement in Judea and Samaria (the West Bank). Evolution of a new settlement type, the Yishuv Kehillati (Community Village). At the micro level, the Yishuv Kehillati is shown to reflect a negation of the ideological factors which were responsible for the development of the kibbutzim and mosharvim in their time. At the macro level, the Yishuv Kehillati is seen as an outcome ot the government desire since 1977 to establish Jewish settlements throughout Judea and Samaria. The factor accounting for the change in emphasis in both locational and settlement type, is shown to be the changing political context of Israeli society. The socio-economic structure of the Yishuv Kehillati is discussed.
