Slavery to freedom in the British Caribbean: ecological considerations
Auteur :RICHARDSON, B. C.
Description :
At emancipation in the British Caribbean in the 1830s, planter coercion of newly-freed blacks and responses by the blacks themselves were conditioned partly by physical environmental circumstances. This paper describes three types of ecological adaptations highland, lowland, and migration made by ex-slaves at emancipation. (MPM).
