Xuxiake's contribution in the study of karst.

Xuxiake's (1586-1641) contributions are many-sided but the most important is in the study of karsts. He pointed out the significance of fluvial erosion and gravity process in the formation of karst landscape, described in detail morphological forms of tropical karst and accurately noted the geographical distribution of them in southwestern China including some accurate measurements. (TNC).
