Description :
Three major lithofacies associations found in the Killard Point moraine, County down, Northern Ireland, are attributed to ice-proximal glaciomarine resedimentation of glacigenic debris derived from a partially floating ice-shelf. From this it is suggested that late-Pleistocene deglaciation in the northern Irish Sea basin was conditioned by oceanic heat exchange mechanisms rather than climatic amelioration. (AJC).
