86 loess and paleosol samples were analyzed (Luochuan and Longxi). Loess and paleosols of different age show similarity in clay minerals with illite dominating and some chlorite, kaolinite, etc. An attempt to correlate climatic events in China with those recorded in Northern Europe and the isotope oxigen stages in deep-sea sediments is presented in the paper.
