Description :
An original splitting system design was employed to obtain measurements of stream load components from two adjacent and physiologically comparable catchments in the Natal Drakensberg. An autumn burn treatment was applied to one of the catchments. The treatment caused a significant reduction in the rate of subsurface water movement and in the baseflow discharge volume. It did not have any substantial effect on storm runoff and stream load components. (AJC).
