Ukrainian peasant colonization east of the Urals (1896-1914)

Description :
Ukrainian peasant migration and settlement east of the Urals before World War 1 contributed significantly to the population profile of Siberia and Northerm Kazakhstan. Nearly one half of the peasants crossing the Urals at the time were Ukrainian. The history, process, patterns and remaining evidence of that colonization are described.
