The success of Shenzhen Special Economic Zone as centre of exchange and services depends on its internal and external linkages. Transport development has taken priority since the early days of its establishment as seen in the network of roads and port construction. The problem now is to ensure the coordination between modes of transport. The building of pipelines, extension of the planned super-highway to Changjiang, provision of an international airport, unitization and containerization are some of the possible developments.
