Marine benches of the easten Cape, South Africa

Auteur :
MARKER, M.-E.

Description :
A suite of nine marine benches in the Alexandria karst area of the eastern Cape was found to extend from Kei Mouth to Cape St. Francis. The evidence was then related to that from earlier studies. The conclusion is reached that the suite of benches is widespread and of more than local significance, and that the benches are of undoubted marine origin and that they span the entire Cenozoic period: that at 240 m, being the oldest as it supports Palaeogene sediments.
