Description :
This paper is concerned with the regions along the internal boundaries of the European Community. Coordination of regional policy by individual states becomes urgent in boundary areas where such forms of regional aid are based on different presuppositions and ideas in the bordering states, albeit often concerning analogous problems. Financial assistance by the EC has so far only scarcely become effective in border regions. An example is given by the German-Dutch Ems-Dollart region.
