Description :
The patterns of interaction between international air carriers, regional air carriers and governments may be interpreted within the framework and concepts provided by theories of economic dualism and segmentation. Examination and illustration by the international airline system of the Oceania. Segmentation is shown to be greater than is catered for in a simple dualistic model and the forms of subordination and domination within this power network of economic segments is explored. Patterns of subordination are examined and the role of the state in airline interactions is reviewed.
