Leaders in geography must take an active role in initiating and implementing diverse strategies that would facilitate the amelioration of the discipline. Effective leadership from chairpersons needs to be nurtured and exercised to achieve optimal success. A paradigm is identified and applied to geography that should strengthen its position in higher education.
