The glaciation of the Andes

Description :
The first part broadly describes the present glaciers and snowline altitude, summarises the meagre glaciological data available and discusses the landforms and sediments associated with late Cenozoic glacial periods. The second part deals mainly with glacial history over the last 5 Ma of the late Cenozoic and discusses evidence for glacier fluctuations during the following periods: the Holocene| the late-glacial (16,000-10,000 BP)| the last glaciation (ca 30,000-16,000 BP)| the middle-early last glaciation (ca 80,000-30,000 BP)| the penultimate glaciation (ca 170,000-130,000 BP)| pre-penultimate Pleistocene glaciations (ca 1.8 Ma-170,000 BP)| pre-Pleistocene glaciations (ca 7-1.8 Ma BP).
