The time series of the sea surface temperature in the eastern North Atlantic, of air temperature in central England and the central Europe from 1876 to 1973 specified for the cold and the warm season are analysed for long periods by using the maximum-entropy method. A moving maximum-entropy spectral analysis reveals remarkable frequency shifts in these variations. Some ideas about the relations between the time series are obtained from a two-channel auto-regressive spectral analysis. (HL).
