Description :
The interpretation of special supplementary geoelectrical, gravimetric and mercury-metallogenetic prospection work, carried out in front of the open pit Merseburg-Ost, and the comparison with surveys in the open pit as well as with interpreted results of the main prospection work led to essential conclusions on the interrelations between the geologic underground formation of seams and coal qualities. Thus it became possible to find out possible areas of brine-breakthrough, to explain deposit and coal anomalies, to tell about briquetting properties and to take measures of coal utilization and future prospection and research tasks.
