Description :
Turbidites and related sediments have been studied in Sinemurian, Pliensbachian, Toarcian, Aalenian and Bejocian strata of the Argentine Neuquén Basin. Mud flows, low energy and high energy turbidites and olistostromes can be recognized. Most of the sediments are clearly related to the margin of the basin and indicate its rapid subsidence. Tuffites in the sequence indicate volcanic activities in the hinterland. The development of the Argentine Neuquén Basin in the early Jurassique, shown by gravitational man movements described and other data, is discussed.
