Description :
An orogenic sequence of sedimentary, volcanic metamorphic and plutonic rocks, truncated by a major middle to upper Paleozoic erosion surface occurs throughout the Transantarctic Mountains. Along its length the belt shows considerable variations in both tectonic style and timing. Relationships discussed in the paper suggest a migrating tectonic cycle from the African to the Australian sector of Gondwana from the late Precambrian through the middle Paleozoïc.
