Description :
An attempt is made to examine connections between climatic elements and human mortality rates in France. Mortality time series has been based on data recorded by necrological year (August-July) from 1949 to 1977. Multiple regression analysis shows that the best indicator of climate is the number of days on which temperature falls under 12 C at the reference station of Orléans. A significant correlation was found between this climatic indicator and mortality rate.
