Using the case of Luzy Canton (Nièvre) the climatic event of 1976 drought is analysed to reveal the state of agriculture and local agricultural community| this analysis leads to register the greater or lesser impact of the catastrophe on farming and rural infrastructures. Reactions consist on one hand of collective initiatives and the search for new ways to continue farming and on the other hand of a considerable substratum of actual individual attitudes, at the same time as a strong stability of certain relations as commercialization.
