Rückschlüsse auf paläoklimatische Verhältnisse, abgeleitet aus Felsbildergenerationen in der westlichen Libyschen Sahara. (Generations of rock pictures of the western Libyan Sahara in its relation to the palaeoclimatic conditions)

Auteur :
FURST, M.

Description :
Generations of rock pictures of the western Libyan Sahara are described and classified by the fauna depicted, by the techniques employed, and tentatively by stylistic development. They are related to radiocarbon dates. During the big-game and round-head epochs Homoioceras sp., other unidentified wild buffalos and cattle as well as Bos cf. primigenius are represented together with a typical African fauna. Homoioceras sp. and probably Syncerus caffer are no longer depicted during the cattle epoch with its domesticated bovids, which followed after an arid phase between the 5th and 4th millennium B. C.
