Description :
Transformation of biotite in a sod-podzolic soil on moraine of Valdai upland was investigated by means of scanning electron microscopy, rontgen microanalysis and diffractometry. In the course of biotite weathering the lattice gets deformed, cracks enlarge and isometric clay scales develop first on plates'surfaces substituting gradually the whole grain.
