Description :
The regression of the Calabrian sea caused the deposition of fluvial marine sediments. Through the following transgression these accumulations were overlain by a loamy-sandy medium-layer (of Emilian age), which was then itself overlain by a coarse gravel layer (of Sicilian age), developing during the next marine regression. This sedimentary series builds up the so-called Irsina-terrace. It was accumulated after the Jaramillo event and before the Brunhes epoch the top sediments most probably between 0,775 and 0,69 my ago.
