Beobachtungen zur economia sommersa in Italien. (Quelques observations sur l'économie souterraine en Italie)

Auteur :
MONHEIM, R.

Description :
The proportion of employed within the population in Italy is small, particularly in the Mezzogiorno. During the period from 1951-1971 this proportion has decreased even further. One reason for this decline is that parts of the economy have removed themselves from governmental and union control (submerged economy). In such irregular occupations there are neither contracts of employment and social security benefits, nor taxes and social compensation. Their most important forms are irregular full-time employment, cottage work, double employment and children labor. Three regions are emerging each with a specific type of economia sommersa: the Northwest, the northeastern and central regions, and the Mezzogiorno. (L'A.).
