Description :
The paper deals with the development of rural settlements in Northern Greece which is much influenced by the outmigration to and return migration from Western Germany and in some parts from tourism, especially from Jugoslavia. It is shown that the remittances from outside and the savings of the return migrants were mostly invested unproductively in housebuilding. The villages therefore show a development which is dependent from outside and is not based on their own economy. (L'A.).
