Late Holocene shoreline changes and seismo-tectonic displacements in western Crete (Greece)

The emerged shorelines in western Crete are not the result of an upheaval by jolts, as supposed for more than a century but of a sudden upheaval at about 1550 B. P. reaching + 9 m int he SW part of the island which followed a series of rapid but short range sinkings, eight of which are dated between 4200 and 1700 B. P.
