The pattern of the areal variability of the runoff and dissolved material during the summer drought in flysch drainage basins

Description :
In the partial catchment basins and on the experimental slope within the Homerka drainage basin there was carried out a series of measurements of the quantity and quality of water during a summer drought. Close relationships were found to exist between both the quantity (discharge, specific runoff) and the quality of water (concentration of the dissolved material, subsurface chemical denudation) on the one hand, and the increase in the drainage area on the other hand. Relationships concerning rate of streamflow and rate of denudation are expressed by a hyperbola equation which can be written: y = ax + b/x. It may be accepted as a mathematical model of the areal hydrologic variability in the drainage basins of the flysch Carpathians. (D'après les AA.).
