Pedological and palynological data obtained from the study of a protohistorical site in the Senegal valley show that: 1. the establishment took place on a relatively flat surface| 2. the accumulation of a sandy clay material into a sort of elliptical mound might result from the decay of mud constructions| 3. the disappearance of arboreal pollen from spectra in the upper part of the diagram is related to human activity, which is dated c. 1000 AD.
