The INQUA commission held a meeting at Rhenen on october 16-17-1980 which was devoted to the subject of the geology and archeology of the Lower and Middle Pleistocene deposits in the ice pushed ridges of the Central Netherlands. The principal aim of the meeting was to bring together scientists who have studied ice pushed deposits exposed in some large sand-and gravelpits near Rhenen and Veenendaal. The present volume summarizes the results obtained which may serve as an example of what may be achieved in Quaternary research by a coordinated interdisciplinary approach.
