Planning responses to urban and rural problems: a comparative study in South-West Wales

Description :
Rural planning has traditionally been viewed as the poor relation of the town and country planning partnership. As a consequence, rural planners have often promoted a series of individualized rural planning techniques. However, many planning problems may be considered as common to both rural and urban environments. Although conceptional treatment of the rural-urban relationship has turned full circle from dichotomy to separatism, empirical evidence from S. W. Wales suggests that a full understanding of urban and rural problems requires an overview of the dynamics of economic and social change that affect individual well-being in both environments.
