The Upper Timberline in the Velka (great) Fatra Mountains

Description :
Climatic conditions corresponding to orography and location of the Great Fatra, geomorphological and substrate-soil condition and man are the main factors which influence the upper timberline. Its average lowered by man height is only 1248m. The highest elevations of present timberline reaches partly up to the peaks in 1530-1550m. This corresponds in general to the natural afforestation.
