Termiczne zanieczyszczenie srodowiska na przyk adzie regionu Krakowskiego. (Thermic pollution in Krakow region)

LEWINSKA, J.

Description :
The paper treats of the thermic pollution of the environment /mainly in respect of air/ and is based upon examples taken from the Krakow urban-industrial agglomeration. Attention is drawn to modification of fields of meteorological elements, in particular air temperature and precipitation as well as ground soil interaction. In the Krakow urban-industrial agglomeration the emission of heat into the atmosphere occurs directly and also as a result of input of heated water into the river. Heat-emission reduces the inverse stratification of the air above the city 50% on average. The increase in precipitation due to the presence of stronger conventional currents and active centres of condensation amounts to 20-30% on average. Close relation between fields of meteorological elements and the ground as well as the degree of development indicates that in the process of modification of the city's climatic conditions influences due to human activities play the most important part.
