Lithostratigraphy and biostratigraphy of marine Neogene deposits in the Netherlands

A lithostratigraphic subdivision and a biostratigraphic classification of marine Neogene deposits are presented. The main lithostratigraphic established are the Oosterhout Formation and the older Breda Formation, Five biozones, distinguished mainly on the basis of differences in the composition of benthonic foraminiferal assemblages are discussed.
