The tenth congress of Yugoslavian geographers, which took place in Belgrade in September 1976, marked an extraordinary revival in the study of geography in Yugoslavia and revealed certain strong points in present-day studies in this subject: pedagogical research, studies in the protection of the natural environment, social and economic problems, the consequences of the rise of tourism. Physical geography and traditional regional geography, on the other hand, have aroused less interest.
