Multiplant-enterprises of northern Italy, Switzerland and SWGermany as industrial systems are studied. The classification, the development, the process of concentration and decentralization, location factors with different importance, the functions, the structural and regional interrelations and linkages of the industrial systems have been analized. Some geographical features of dependencies between metropolitan and peripherical elements of regional, national and transnational enterprises, their selection effects and importance for regional economic development are distinguished.
