Changes in the spatial efficiency of periodic markets

Auteur :
GHOSH, A.

Description :
This study offers a definition of accessibility and a measure of spatial efficiency based on distance minimizing configurations. In the area under study the spatial pattern of market centres is shown to approximate a distance minimizing configuration. Changes in response to population shifts are observed to occur in a lagged fashion. The results suggest that the existing system of market centres could form the basis of a more generalized service delivery system. (Raichur district, India).
