Description :
The combined geomorphological and pedogenetic study of a representative inselberg with its bordering planation surfaces in the western part of Swaziland Lowveld is indicative of slope metastability in both geometric and material respect. This situation is unique in comparison to the amount of morphodynamic activity actually prevailing in the adjacent regions with different climates, i.e. the eastern Lowveld and Middleveld of Swaziland, and permits to more precisely define the realm of validity of current morphogenetic hypotheses on inselbergs and related planation surfaces.
