The attempt of an analysis of commuter interlockings in the State of Hessen. The comparison shows important regional and sectoral trends of development and structural factors of determination in the field of traffic , labour market and settlement structures. The results serves as a basis for the appropriate current political area planning process. The commuter interlocking can be interpreted as a consequence of the economical and sociological development process. It is also a compensating mechanism for the lack of appropriate political area planning and objectives. (l'A.).
