Description :
The marine transgression which ends the lower Cretacious coincides in the Aquitaine region with the beginning of a distension phase during the Vraconian. These phenomena show a recasting of sedimentary spaces, a redistribution of facies and a new adaptation of biological activity. This explains the diversity of areas of sedimentation which spread from tidal to basin environment. This is illustrated by tables and Vraconian and Cenomanian palaeogeographic maps.
