L'économie mondiale et l'expertise de Léontief

Auteur :
BOURCIER DE CARBON, P.

Description :
Professor Leontief was asked by the United Nations Organization to indicate ways in which the gap in income per head between rich and poor countries could be reduced by the year 2000. The principal scenarios are presented ant their plausibility examined (rapid growth in agricultural production in poor countries, increasing trade deficits in Western Europe and Japan...). The hypotheses selected and the methods used in the study reflect the political context within which this important piece of research was carried out. One of the principal weaknesses is the low importance given to demographic factors.
